Malaysian food has fans all over the world. RasaMalaysia shows them that cooking it at home is easier than they might think.
Context
RasaMalaysia is a US-based cooking blog. Its mission is to prove that mouthwatering Malaysian dishes are easy and accessible to cook, wherever you live. Malaysian recipes are especially popular with Western home cooks, so the audience is large and international.
However, a recipe blog is never finished. New recipes go live regularly, and each one needs to look good and load reliably. At the same time, the blog competes for attention with countless other food sites and social channels.
Goals
- Keep the website easy to navigate as the recipe library grows.
- Make sure the site stays free of bugs, with every new post working properly.
- Bring in new traffic consistently.
- Increase exposure for the brand and keep audiences coming back.
Our approach
We saw two jobs here, and both needed ongoing attention.
The first was the website itself. For example, many readers arrive looking for one specific dish. So they need to find it quickly and follow it easily. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, regular updates must never break what already works.
The second was reach. Written recipes are valuable, but video is how many people now discover new dishes. Short, focused cooking clips can introduce the blog to people who have never searched for it.
Execution
Website development and management
Our web development team developed the RasaMalaysia website and managed it on an ongoing basis. Because the site is updated regularly with new recipes, our work covered more than a one-time build. We kept the site easy to navigate, free of bugs and ready for each new post.
Keeping traffic flowing is also part of the brief. A recipe site depends on new visitors finding it, so every update has to support that goal.
POV cooking videos
To widen the blog's reach, we directed, shot and edited short cooking videos. We filmed each one in a POV format, from the cook's point of view. As a result, viewers see exactly what they would see at their own stove, which makes recipes feel achievable.
This content sits within our social media content service. You can see more of the visual work in our Rasa Malaysia portfolio project.
Outcome
The POV cooking videos increased RasaMalaysia's exposure and improved audience retention. Meanwhile, the website remains a stable, easy-to-use home for a growing library of Malaysian and Asian recipes.
Key takeaways from the Rasa Malaysia case study
- Content sites need ongoing care. Regular publishing means regular maintenance, so budget for management rather than a one-off build.
- Video extends the reach of written content. Short clips also introduce your brand to people who would never have found the website.
- Format matters. POV filming shows viewers exactly what to do, which suits instructional content such as recipes.
- Usability keeps visitors. A site that is quick to navigate and free of bugs turns one-time readers into regulars.
