Yelobee Logo Design: A Friendly Bee for Online HR and Payroll

Yelobee helps businesses manage employees and payroll online. Its message is direct: start being more productive by reducing the redundant work. Payroll is rarely anyone's favourite topic, so the brand needed a logo that felt friendly rather than corporate.

The brief to Spacebar was to design a creative and interactive logo for Yelobee.

A bee with a double meaning

The symbol is a round yellow bee with one bold charcoal stripe, a single eye and two soft grey wings. Its pointed tail also turns the body into a speech bubble. As a result, the mark hints at conversation and helpful messages as well as busy, productive work. The flat colours and subtle print texture keep it simple enough to reproduce at any size.

A script wordmark with personality

"Yelobee" appears in a flowing, hand-lettered script in golden yellow. A miniature bee perches at the end of the final letter. As a result, the wordmark still carries the symbol when space is tight. A reversed version in white also sits cleanly on the brand's own yellow.

Proven in real use

The screenshots show the logo at work on Yelobee's product website, on desktop and mobile. There it sits above the headline "Hate doing your payroll on paper or excel?". Feature sections then follow for a facial punch card, employee and manager accounts, and automatic salary and contribution calculations. Even at small sizes, the mark remains clear and recognisable.
